Safety stories – From trauma to safety
“If anyone could have come and helped you, who would have come?
What had it done and said?
How would it have felt in my body?”
These three questions are at the core of Safety Stories –
a trauma recovery method developed by Ulrika Ernvik.
Safety Stories is based on the research that has emerged over the past thirty years, primarily in interpersonal neurobiology and memory research. Through security, movement, visualization and
stories, changes can take place within us and between us
that lead from trauma to security.
Safety stories can be offered both in the
conversation room and in the living room, by professionals and by parents or friends, in the moment or many years after a traumatizing experience. Both adults and children can find the joy and power that makes it possible to dare life again.
Safety stories – from trauma to safety presents a clear ten-step manual together with the research that forms the basis for the method. The book can be read by both those who want to be a support for the traumatized and those who have been traumatized.
